![]() Can I use the mobileme idisk to do a timemachine backup? I currently don't backup. Is it possible to do user/user file sharing through mobileme idisk?Ĥ. Are there other alternatives for sharing and what do you recommend as the most appropriate option?ģ. There is also some mention of a user group of which I am unfamiliar.ġ. In my research on the discussion board it appears I can keep iphoto/itunes open on each user, so that users can share the files OR share a user account OR use an EXT HD for all shared files. ![]() My wife and I would like to be able to have access to a shared iphoto library (as well as a shared itunes library). Given that I was a PC user for years until this macbook, and that my clinic uses a network of 15+ PC, I continue to be a newbie when learning the ins and outs of the mac world. I would also request your advice on a few matters. My wife's library is now in my user library and it appears that iphoto has access to all photos. Then without trying Batchmod I opened iphoto and was prompted to pick a library, which I did. When in my own user account, I dragged the 'iphoto library' to my own pictures folder, and had to enter my admin password to overwrite (my iphoto library was empty). Once finished, I dragged the original 'iphoto library' to the shared folder. Then dragged and dropped this 'copy of iphoto library' to burn on a blank CD. So I duplicated the iphoto library this time in my wife's account. What have I done incorrectly? Is there an easier way to transfer these files? The total photo size is over 1.0GB, plus there are the albums, books, and calendars she has created. However, when I access this shared folder in my user account the sub-folders are still locked/private. ![]() I also changed the sharing and permissions for this folder under "get info" to make my user the owner, to allow read and write, and to apply to all sub folders. I copied the iphoto library file in my wife's user account to her shared folder. I have no photos in my own iphoto user account. I have been disappointed that we have not been able to easily share these with separate user accounts. My searches through the forums suggest this will be the easiest was to share the files in these applications. I am planning to make a joint user profile so that we can easily share itunes music, iphotos and icalendar. I would like to move the complete iphoto library (including photos, albums, calendars) from my wife's user account to my user account on the same computer. I have iphoto 6 on a macbookpro OS X 10.5.8. ![]()
